How long do artificial nails hold?
Question by Guest | 2012-06-23 at 16:14
Recently, I got my first artificial nails at a naildesign studio (gel nails). Somehow, I actually have thought, that somebody in the nails salon will tell me something about how to go on now, but nobody told me, how long the nails will actually hold or how it will even continue now with my nails, when my natural nails grow. Can someone enlighten me?

If you care your nails properly, there should be no problem to keep the artificial nails forever without making them completeley new. The only thing, you have to do, is to refill them again and again.
Indeed, the natural nail grows further under your gel nail and at some point, a "gap" arises at the rear of your nails. And such gap must be refilled by the nail designer. In addition, the nail will then be filed and brought back to form.
That must be done every 3 to 5 weeks, depending on how fast your real nails grow. As a rule of thumb, you can go to the nail studio once a month.
However, in your case, I would definitely change the studio, normally, they should explain those things. Apparently, the people there are not very competent.
