Invalid Floating Point Operation

Question by Ilpoz | 2023-12-12 at 17:08

Hi, I'm trying to create a list from my music storage HD.

The list contains info about file structure, Mp3 Tag and Image info.

The list doesn't start from the root, by make different list starting from a 3rd level directory.

In some case it works, in other case when try to save the result in any format (normaly use XLSX) I receive a "Invalid floating point operation" error.

The list contains less then 50k lines.

If i click "OK" to ignore the error the file isn't created.

--------

Floating Point Error: Creating a list with directory structure, mp3 tag info and image info, from an external HD when saving file to XLSX format I receive a floating point error.

What does it means?

The error occurs only after clicking on the save button?

Before, there is no error?

I have just tried to create such a list, but there was no error. How can I reproduce the behavior?

The error appears when you click to generate the file.

May be some invalid character in mp3 tag info?

Later will try to use copy botton to see if this error happens again.

This can be a reason. Especially, if it only occurs with some lists.

Please try to create the same list without the mp3 tag info columns. When there is no error, we now that it is something from the tags.

The best would be if you can figure out, which file / which tag content is responsible for the error. Then I can fix it.

I've found the problem.

For a single folder, there's a problem with the song length but I don't know which one because all the song in that directory seem to have a correct value for song length.

If I remove that info the list works good.

Checking the same directory with a mp3 tag program I see the right length.

So I know where is the problem but don't know which is the file that generate that error.

I've re-encoded that file and now works correctly.

But still don't know what causes that error.

Let me sum up: It occurs only with MP3 files, only when exporting as XLSX during the exportation / while the file is created, and it only occurs when the duration of the file is included into the list. Right?

So, the problem must be some erroneous value in the duration information of the file. Your re-encoding seems to have corrected this.

Now the file is overwritten? It would be good if I could analyse this file in order to create a workaround for the case that such file is added to prevent this error in future.

That's all correct.

I still have the original file that create that error if you want i can send it to you by mail so you can try to understand which kind of problem it has.

As told before, using Tag&Rename application that normally I use to tag all my mp3 file the duration of that song is correctly displayed.

Let me know if you want an example of that mp3 file and where I can sent it to you.

Thanks,

Thank you very much for sending me the files. I have analyzed them and just published a new version of the FilelistCreator not showing the error any more for your files. You can download the program from my website.
