Meaning of Free Edge regarding Fingernails?
Question by Ive | 2018-01-02 at 13:38
In my beauty respectively nail salon, I have often heard the term "Free Edge". A term that seems to have something to do with a fingernail.
So far I have not dared to ask what that word means. Can someone help me?

Free Edge refers to the piece of the fingernail or toenail that protrudes over the tip of the finger or toe.
So, what is meant is not the whole nail, which consists of the part of the nail on the nail bed and the protruding part of the nail - but only the protruding part, which sticks out beyond the front. This part is also called "Distal Nail Plate".
