How does lipstick last longer?

Question by Laura89 | 2012-08-15 at 19:45

I don't know why - but lipstick is not holding on my lips. I wonder whether it is worth for me to apply lipstick any longer!

After I have applied lipstick, it only takes a few hours and it is off again. Not even an evening the lipstick is holding!

Am I doing something wrong? Are there people on which lipstick is not adhering or has someone a tip on what I can do?

Personally, I think that it is not unusual that lipstick or lip gloss does not last all night. Especially when eating or drinking something or stroking with the tongue over lips and mouth, the lipstick goes away rapidly.

This is the reason why a make up kit belongs into each handbag to be able to reload any time if necessary. For me, constantly reapplying lip gloss has become a ritual.

Therefore: Do not you worry, everything is okay with you.

With paying homage to my name, I am writing this answer. Here is a list of my best tips and tricks of how lipstick last longer:

  • Use a waterproof or extra-durable lipstick. You should test different products here, as there are really big differences.
  • Foundation: First, you should powder a little bit, that is making a good base for the lipstick. Also using a lip liner and then apply the powder can do wonders.
  • Apply the lipstick using a brush and take care of spreading/working in the color thoroughly, so that the color also gets into the fine wrinkles of the lips. Here the lipstick holds the best.
  • Finally, remove excess color with a tissue (do not rub) and complete the lips with a transparent or colorless powder.

If I get some other ideas later, i will expand this list.
