What's Aloe Vera?
Question by Guest | Last update on 2022-05-02 | Created on 2015-12-18
On many of my cosmetics and toiletries you can read that "Aloe Vera" is included. I have even seen a pair of tights in which allegedly some Aloe Vera should have been added.
However, what actually is this Aloe Vera and for what should Aloe Vera be good?

Aloe Vera is a plant that looks a bit like an agave. So, it is growing with no or only a very short stem and there are long, thick and fleshy "leaves" directly coming out of it at ground level.
When cutting into those leaves, a liquid comes out which should have some healing effect on the skin. If you apply this liquid to the skin (do not eat or drink), this should disinfect and also help against sunburn, insect bites, dry skin, minor injuries or burns.
For this reason and also because Aloe Vera has become a fashionable term and enjoys a reputation as care product, Aloe Vera is now included in so many products and creams.
