Can you also pay in Euros at the Swiss SBB Ticket Machines?
Question by Guest | 2024-09-29 at 17:43
Sure, in Switzerland you normally pay with the Swiss Franc (CHF), but before my upcoming trip to Switzerland I would like to know whether you can also pay for your ticket in euros (EUR) at the Swiss Railway (SBB) machines.
Or do I have to exchange enough money beforehand?

You do not need to exchange any money into Swiss Francs for the ticket machines of the Swiss Federal Railways. The machines accept both, francs and euros.
But be aware: On my last trip to Switzerland, even though I paid in euros, the change was only given in Swiss Francs. If you want to avoid this, you should pay with the exact amount if possible.
The ticket respectively in Switzerland so-called billet machines accept up to 200 euros per payment and give back a maximum of 99.90 francs in notes and coins.
