Do you need a special ticket for the Wuppertal Suspension Railway (Schwebebahn)?
Question by Guest | 2018-01-31 at 10:05
Does anyone know if you need a special ticket to take the overhead railway respectively Schwebebahn in Wuppertal? Or is a normal public transport ticket sufficient, as it is also used for bus and train?
My friend has a so-called ticket 2000, I have a student card, I can use buses and trains with my ticket. But I can hardly imagine that such a special experience as the suspension railway is possible just with a normal ticket.

In Wuppertal it is quite normal to take the Schwebebahn, the suspension railway is just a normal public transport there and it is used like a bus or the train.
Therefore, you do not need to pay for separate tickets or entrance fees. You can ride the Schwebebahn with your normal NRW student ticket or another VRR ticket, which is valid in Wuppertal. Each ticket, whether single ticket or monthly ticket, which is valid for Wuppertal, is sufficient for the suspension railway.
Have fun with your first suspension monorail ride! This is really a special experience and it is unfortunately taken for granted by many people in Wuppertal, who use it daily.
