Does meat belong in the bio bin?
Question by Guest | 2018-06-22 at 20:07
May I dispose meat using the organic waste bin? Or does meat always belong in the residual waste?
I'm not sure. On the one hand, meat is organic, on the other hand, I would not think of throwing meat on the compost pile in the garden. Does anyone know where to go with the leftovers of meat?

What is collected with the biowaste, is determined by each town, city or local authority district individually. I looked around the internet a bit and found both: some cities are collecting meat in the bio bin, others explicitly disallow meat from the organic waste.
If you want to be on the safe side, the residual waste is certainly the best choice.
You should never put meat onto your compost in the garden because this can attract rats and other animals. Whether this problem also exists with the biological waste bin, certainly depends on where and how you store your organic waste. If this can also be a problem, please dispose it only in the residual waste bin.
Tip: Meat should be wrapped in newspaper when disposing it to the bio-waste bin, in the residual waste you can also use old plastic or garbage bags. This keeps away smell and bugs.
