VirtualBox: VT-X/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system
Question by Anja Proggy | 2014-04-03 at 21:15
I am just trying to set up some systems in the virtual environment of VirtualBox for test purposes. That was perfectly working for various Linux distributions, but I always get the following error message when trying to install newer versions of Windows or Mac OS X:
VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature and will fail to boot without it.
I have also tried to ignore the message but this makes VirtualBox crash at some point completely. What can I do to fix this error?

Try to access the BIOS of your computer (press the F2 key during booting) and go to the menu "Advanced".
If there is an option called something like "Intel Virtualization Technology", activate it and try to start VirtualBox again.

Perfect. This option was disabled at my computer and after I enabled it, everything works as it should. Thank you very much.
