WhatsApp: Change time for automatic backup

Question by Ghostrider | Last update on 2021-05-13 | Created on 2017-09-04

Every day at 2:00 h WhatsApp is creating an automatic backup of my messages. During this time, my phone is not usable and especially Whats App is not responding anymore. Instead, there is a pop-up "Backing up messages - Please Wait a Moment (X %)" displayed and until this procedure is finished, you cannot do anything. And it is really lasting forever!

So, why at 2 o'clock? Why not in the middle of the night at 5 or 6 when everyone is sleeping? This backup is just annoying! If it is really necessary to do it, please take another time! How is it possible to change this forced auto backup to an individual time of my needs?

You can find the settings for backing up the messages in your WhatsApp settings under:

  • Settings > Chats > Chat Backup

Unfortunately, there are all possible settings available, for example for Google Drive (something that nobody needs) and other things, but there is no setting to modify the time. I hope that we can find an option for that at this place sometime after an update, because this time is also annoying for me.

It is so frustrating.

Is there any solution to this? Can I change the time?

Change from AM to PM or change the time of the phone or delay the phone 3 hours.
