Filelist Creator: How to print a List of Files

Today, I was asked by e-mail, how to print out a list of files using the Filelist Creator tool (for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux). So, I would like to answer this question in this article.

Print list using Filelist Creator

There are several ways to print out a file list. The easiest way is to just select "Print" as export format down right the main window. After that, you can click on the button "Print List" in order to print the current list. This opens the print dialog in which you can change some formatting settings such as landscape or portrait orientation. You can also select an arbitrary printer from the least of your installed printers (including PDF printers) for the print out. The look and design of the list can be adjusted in the menu "Settings > Print" for printing.

Another way is to select "Web Page (HTML)" as export format. After creating your list, you can right click on the preview and select "Print" or "Print Preview" from the opening context menu.

With this, you can directly print out the current list or you can adjust the print layout using the print preview. I recommend to always have a look at the print preview before printing, so that you can check the format and size of the page (landscape, portrait and scale). Especially when printing long and broad lists, this can be a good choice.

Print list using other applications

Apart from that, of course, you can also save your file list in any other format that is available (for example as text file, image or CSV sheet) in order to open this file in another external application to print out the list from there.

This possibility can be used, for example, if you would like to further process or adapt your list. For example, you can open the list in a text processing program such as Microsoft Word or OpenOffice Writer or in some spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel to reformat the list. With this, you can also insert your files into other documents and print them along with those.
