Filelist Creator: Maximum Number of Files
Question by Mail Request | 2015-10-01 at 12:34
I could not find any information on your website about how many files can be indexed using the FileList Creator tool.
Can you tell me which maximum number of files can be listed using the FilelistCreator? In my case, I have pretty much files in a great folder/directory hierarchy, maybe several millions of files which I would like to grab with your application repeatedly.
I am looking forward to your response.

Unfortunately, I cannot assure you of any exact number of files that can be recorded using the Filelist Creator at a maximum.
Indeed, the program does not have any internal limit, so that theoretically you can list any number of files, but of course, there is a limit set by the storage of the used computer and reading out millions of files will be pretty slow, so that also the time will play a role.
The Filelist Creator is reading out many file information during listing the files and this is time-consuming. So, if you want to read out and list very very much files, it would be better to have a program that is exactly designed for reading out the required information and that is only reading out those information resulting in a quicker reading process and a more efficient storage. In such a program, we could also omit the preview and other unnecessary stuff, making the whole thing even more faster.
If you want to have such a program, I can gladly offer an individual solution. However, you should definitely just run a test with the Filelist Creator to check out the performance on your own. Perhaps, this will already be enough for you.
