Is there a rule of thumb on how many kilograms I need to lose or gain weight to fit one dress size smaller or larger?

It is said that 6 kilograms correspond to one dress size.
For example, if you lose 12 kg, you should be two sizes below your current size.
Of course you can not generalize that, as the weight actually depends on many factors, such as how muscular you are, but as a rough guide that 6 kg are appropriate.
