Usually, your mobile device is searching for the best net around and is connecting with this network.

You have to keep two things in mind: Not all types of networks are available in all areas and your device has to have support for the special network.

So, if you would like to have the fast LTE (4G) network, first, this network has to be available in your area and secondly, your device has to support it. Not all (and especially older) devices are supporting the "new" LTE yet.

Another reason may be, that the higher networks are disabled in your phone or device. For example, these settings can be found in the settings on "Mobile Networks", where you can select between the network modes "GSM only", "WCDMA only", "LTE only" or "Auto mode" on my device. If you select Auto Mode, the best available network is selected automatically. If you select "GSM only" (2G), even UMTS (3G) is not used by your device even if a network is available.

So, check whether you have the right settings in your device, your device is supporting the network types and the network preferred is available in your area. In addition, you should also keep in mind that faster networks are also bringing the battery faster down.

I hope I could help you.

Thanks alot for the answer.

I have checked my divice and found it can only support GSM and WCDMA, and the higher network connections are available in my area. Now is it possile for me to upgrade my device to be able to support the higher networks by may be installing a software or somthing.

Thanks.

The support of the faster networks such as LTE or HSPA is not a software thing, it is a hardware think.

You need the correct chips, transmitter, receiver and aerial in your device that can handle the required frequencies and speeds. It is not done by simply installing an app or something like that.

So, theoretically, it is possible to change such hardware in your device, but I would not recommend such trials. Smartphones and tablets are complex syntonic systems, it is not easy to do so. And in all likelihood, a new device is the easier and cheaper idea to get to such networks.
