Attention: Although Rose Monday is certainly the most important day for every carnival professional and also many shops are closed this day, Rose Monday is not a public holiday / nonbusiness day in Germany.

So, remember to take the day off or clarify the matter with your boss before you celebrate carnival. Fortunately, this is usually not a problem at all, especially in the carnival strongholds.

PS: By the way, here you will find the dates for Womens Carnival Day (Altweiber or Weiberfastnacht) and Ash Wednesday (Aschermittwoch).
