I have a question regarding downloads. When turning the computer into standby, sleep mode or hibernation state, what will started and not yet completed downloads do? Are such downloads proceeding during those states?

No. Although the computer is keeping the current session in memory during hibernation state, downloads can only be saved on the hard drive while the computer is turned on.
Depending on your download manager or browser and the source, some downloads will immediately continue after restarting the computer, all others will abort.
