Firefox: Download Icon disappeared

Question by Guest | 2017-05-16 at 19:44

Today, I have started my Firefox browser and first I have not even noticed what happened. However, at the moment I have started my first download today, I noticed that suddenly the icon for the downloads was away.

I am talking about the symbol or icon that is normally located directly right to the search bar at the top of the browser. It is the icon usually indicating how long a download takes and with which you can display the download manager. It was just away!

First, I tried to restart my browser, but unfortunately this has not shown any effect! How can I get the function back again? Without my downloads, the Internet makes no sense for me!

Use your right mouse button and click on the bar on which the symbol usually should be. This will open the context menu in which you can click on "Customize".

After that, a new window will open in which you can see all icons for functions and add-ons. You should also find the download icon there.

Now you can use your mouse to drag and drop this icon to an arbitrary position in the menu bar. With this procedure you should be able to restore the old symbol.

Otherwise, I can also recommend using the keyboard shortcut CTRL + J with which you can directly show or switch to the download window. Another possibility is to enter "about:downloads" into the address bar. With this command, a list of all downloads will be displayed directly in your browser window.
