Cat all day lying in the sun - risk of sunburn?
Question by Mopsi99 | 2012-06-30 at 16:49
My cat loves to lie all day in the sun and to take a sunbath. Now I wonder, however, whether that's healthy and good for her. Doesn't she run the risk to get a sunburn? So, should I try to stop her from sunbathing or don't I need to make me worry?

You do not need to worry, your cat well knows when enough is enough. Cats love the warmth and they like to bathe in the sun. If they should get too warm, they walk in the shade, so you need not be afraid to care about them. In addition, their coat is a good sunscreen.
The only thing you have to care about: The cat needs their opportunities to retreat. That is, you must give her the opportunity to also find a place in the shade and you should not let her, for example on the balcony, where there is no shade and no return to your rooms.
