Frankfurt Book Fair: Trade Visitor as a Student

Question by Guest | 2017-10-05 at 15:12

I am a student and would like to visit the Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse).

Now the procedure of the fair is regulated that there are at first some days when the fair is open only for trade visitors and afterwards there are days for private visitors.

My question is whether, as a student, I can go to the fair also on trade visitor days. And if so, do I have to register or sign up in advance or meet other conditions? For example, does my student subject have anything to do with books or does that not matter?

And what would you recommend? Do you rather go to the trade fair as a trade visitor or as a private visitor?

All I had to do was to show my student ID card at the cash desk to get my trade visitor ticket.

A previous registration was not necessary. Also my subject was not asked. After all, you can certainly argue with each subject that it has something to do with the fair (even if it's just textbooks - I do not know a subject for which there are no books).

If you have the options, I would definitely prefer the trade visitor days. On the private visitor days, it is full at the fair and often there is a big crowd. This is better on the trade visitor days (although it is still full at that time). In addition, as a trade visitor you are usually taken more seriously, as if you are a private person "just watching" the fair. But I also have an argument for the private visit: the private visitor prices are much cheaper.
