Question by Guest | 2018-01-24 at 12:21
You hear again and again that you should wash your hands regularly and often to ensure removing dirt, bacteria and viruses. Thereby you are supposed to minimize the risk of infection of yourself and others.
But now, the question arises whether you should rather wash your hands with warm or cold water. What is better for the hands? Does not cold water kill bacteria even better? Some sinks even only offer the option of using cold water.

The most important thing, above all, is that you use reasonable soap. Because only the soap can ensure that the dirt is really removed properly.
However, every soap has its optimum temperature. The best is lukewarm to warm water. With cold water, the soap can not grab properly and too hot water is bad for the skin.
With both, too cold water and too hot water, the skin can become brittle and cracked and this allows the germs and bacteria to penetrate.
