Meaning of XX and XOXO
Question by Guest | Last update on 2021-04-02 | Created on 2013-12-24
Admittedly, currently I have a girlfriend that is a lot younger than I am. Again and again I see the conflict of generations in various trifles.
Especially the teenage slang and youth language with all the abbreviations in text messages is causing problems (I am more on the state that I am glad that I have ever managed to get a text message to send).
For example, I am often confronted with the word "XOXO" or sometimes just "XX" in the messages. What does this mean? I do not want to ask, since it stands out even more, how big the differences between us really are. Does anyone know what it means?

The X stands for "kiss", the O for "hug". Accordingly, XX means "kisses" and XOXO "hugs and kisses".
Both are often used as a closing formula in SMS or other messages. For example, "XX Marie" under a message text. The more X, the more kisses.

XX means kiss and O hug !!
Consequently, XOXO means a kiss and a hug! :-)
