No Speed with H+ on my Smartphone

Question by Guest | 2014-12-02 at 14:53

I read your article about the different signal standards for mobile Internet.

I learnt that H and H+ are faster than 3G.

I have a 3G SIM and recharge 3G packs for Internet. The status bar shows H+. But I don't get the speed as I should. What I experience may be be called 2G or even less.

H and H+ are making faster connections possible than it is possible with 3G. The table in my article lists the maximum speeds possible with the corresponding technology.

Using 3G or UMTS technology it is possible to download with a maximum speed of 384 Kbit/s, with H even 7.2 Mbit/s are possible, with H+ even more.

But this does not mean that you can always reach those speeds in nature. The real speeds you are experiencing on your smartphone are depending on different circumstances: How far away is the base station? How good is the signal? Are you shielded from the mobile signal because you are in a house, in a tunnel or something else? Are there other people around you using the same station so that you have to share speed with them?

These and other things are influencing the signal strength and the speed. So, the values in the table can be considered as maximum speeds under perfect and optimum circumstances. You do not always get those speeds, but you can never get more.
