Why do I have no LTE on my smartphone?

Question by Guest | 2014-05-06 at 19:34

I would also like to have the fast Internet LTE (4G) on my smartphone! Unfortunately, up to now it was only possible to reach UMTS speed (3G) for me with my mobile phone.

Why do I have no LTE on my smartphone and what can I do to change this and to improve the speed of my Internet? I really would like to browse fast when I am on the road!

Mainly, there could be three reasons for not having LTE on the smartphone.

  • The first reason is that your phone does not support LTE technically.
  • The second reason is that there is not LTE available at your location.
  • The third reason is that your mobile contract does not cover LTE connections and you can only browse the Internet with a reduced bandwidth (popular in low-cost contracts).

I have answered this question in more detail in the topic about getting an UMTS network with the phone. In principle, for LTE the same applies.
