Uppercase and Lowercase List plus Symbols
Question by Guest | 2018-01-17 at 21:34
Is there a way to print A-Z caps in one line and then lower case a-z under it?
The font page gets two wide on 81/2 x 11 and gets cut off on the right.

At the moment, you can use the following function in PrintMyFonts:
Settings > Export Print > Options > Wrap long Lines
The result will be that long lines will no longer be cut at the page edge but wrapped into the next line.
However, with this, it is not possible to create a "manual break" at a specific position in your text. I have to think about it, perhaps I can introduce something like a placeholder like <newline> with which you can break a line.
Then, you could use ABCDEFG...<linebreak>abcdefg... for that.

Sweet! The linebreak option would be ideal.
Let me know.... I would like to donate if this works...
thx paul

You are welcome! Thank you very much!
I hope, I can implement this new function until tomorrow. I will write it here, when the function is available.
By the way: Which operating system are you using? Windows? So that I have to know which system I should update first.

I am on Mac OSX High Sierra 10.13.2
I look forward....

Thanks. I will write a new comment as soon as the new function will be available for Mac OS X.

Hi Stefan,
In the mean time I don't see the "Wrap long lines" option available in 17.3.25 version?
2018-01-18 at 13:48
Hi Paul,
this option will also be available in the new version.
I have already started to implement the feature. I will write as soon as I have uploaded it.

The line break function is now available for Mac, Windows and Linux. I have just uploaded the program files. You can download the new application from my website.
You can now use the <linebreak> placeholder in all text fields. Here is an example:
This will print the letters A-Z, the letters a-z and the numbers 0-9 each in a new line.
The line break function is available within the programs font list as well as in all export formats (print, image, document and website).

Ok, I upated and set up my font list.
When I went to export I got this message:
Access violation.
Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Cancel to kill the program.
2018-01-18 at 21:35
Which export format have you used?
And which settings?
Have the error occured before or after the file dialog was shown?
Is it the same for all export formats?
2018-01-18 at 22:52
It only appears on print setting.
Right after as I select adobe pdf.
Strange I tried it with just 5 fonts and it worked.
If I drag my whole script font set of 400 fonts over I get the message. This did not happen previously?

I have just published a new version of the program. Can you test it with this version? Is it working now?
The reason for this behavior seems to be the new option "Print Fonts as Image" which is curiously working on Windows and Linux without any problems.
2018-01-19 at 14:34
I was wrong. I am getting access privilege errors on the other formats.
Looks like it may be a permissions thing on my OS since some Apple security patches to 10.13.2 yesterday.....APPLE!!!
Hopefully I will get it remedied.
2018-01-19 at 14:34
So, even the old version is not working anymore with that update?
Have you noticed my comment to your previous message?
2018-01-19 at 14:36
I just fired up the original version of PrintMyFonts and it created a pdf successfully.
There is another new version? I will have a look.
thx

WooHoo! your version 18.1.19 seems to fix it!
Great work....let me carry on with some more testing and I will get back to you!
thx Stefan!!!!

Great news!
Please let me know if you have ended your tests.

Stefan,
I have noticed if I load a folder of several (400) serif fonts that many previews of fonts are rendered as a generic non-serif. If I do smaller batches the previews appear ok. Is this too many fonts to process? Not sure what the magic number might be?
Also, a colleague of mine was asking, and I agreed, that putting the font name on top instead of after would be better option?
thx

Strange thing... There is no limit or something like that set in my program.
This seems to be a system problem. All fonts have to be registered in the system, perhaps Mac OS has problem registering so many fonts at once...
2018-01-19 at 17:37
What about the donation you have talked about for implementing the line break feature?
2018-01-20 at 13:44
Unfortunately, I am still dealing with the fonts not loading consistently. When I drag a folder of serif fonts, the software starts out rendering ok then it randomly displays as helvetica. Its doesnt preview the fonts. If you have any suggestions I would like to try. Until this works properly I cannot use the software as planned.
I can send you screen captures if you wish.
2018-01-22 at 14:38
Yes, please send me a screenshot of it. You can use the e-mail address from my imprint.
The same fonts are working when adding them not all in once? From what number of fonts is this occurring? Perhaps I can build in a little delay during registering so that the system has time to do it. What do you think?
