Can you eat uncooked mushrooms?
Question by Ive | 2017-12-27 at 12:39
A friend of mine likes to eat some mushrooms from time to time in between. Raw and uncooked! I almost knocked the mushrooms out of her hand, so shocked I was to see that.
She said, it is perfectly fine to eat uncooked mushrooms. In my opinion, mushrooms should only be eaten cooked. Is there something in her opinion?

Generally, you should always cook fungi before eating. However, mushrooms are an exception. They are the only type of fungi that can be eaten raw and uncooked.
Nevertheless, you should of course be careful that the mushrooms are still fresh. Babies and toddlers should also rather play it safe and go without uncooked mushrooms.
