Up to now, Brazil was the country that made the most world champion titles, Germany and Italy are following on the second place. Brazil was Champion for five times, Italy and Germany made it four times.

Here is a complete table of all world champions we had so far:

NationWorld Cup Champion
Brazil5x 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002
Germany4x 1954, 1974, 1990, 2014
Italy4x 1934, 1938, 1982, 2006
Argentina3x 1978, 1986, 2022
Uruguay2x 1930, 1950
France2x 1998, 2018
Spain1x 2010
England1x 1966

By the way, when looking at the shirt of the national team, you can see how many times a team has already become World Champion. The number of stars printed on the shirt above the team emblem or symbol provides this information.

Italy 1934 as well as Germany 1974, Argentina 1978, Uruguay 1930, France 1998 and England 1966 made the world champion title in their own country. Apparently, the home advantage seems to play a not inconsiderable role.

For each one, who would like to know it in detail, have a look at the list of all football/soccer world cup champions and the winners of the first four places.

After the finals of the World Cup 2018 (2018/07/15), the World Cup 2014 (2014/07/13) as well as the World Cup 2022 (2022/12/18) I have updated the data.
