High Heels: At what heel height should you start?
Question by Guest | 2016-01-19 at 10:13
Not long ago, I turned 17 and up to now, I only had worn sneakers for my whole life. Meanwhile, I am invited to more and more occasions where you should be dressed a bit more elegant and of course, at this point, I am coming to some limit with my sneakers and ballerinas footwear look.
So, I would love to wear some higher shoes or even high heels to such events. Of course, I know that first of all, you have to practice a lot in order to learn walking in such shoes and I also know that you should shrink into those shoes with wearing them at home.
However, I have one more question: At which height should you start as an absolute beginner? What do you recommend? And how was your first walk? I appreciate each of your tips!

I cannot give you hard and fast rules about it which concrete height you should definitely start at the beginning. Moreover, I think, it totally depends on how good you can walk on higher shoes by nature.
Someone who is doing ballet since years of someone who is very double-jointed can possibly wear much higher heels from the beginning on than someone who is not that agile.
Therefore, my recommendation is to go to the next shoe shop and to have a look at different shoes with different heights. You should try them on and I am sure that you will quickly recognized whether it is better to start at 5 cm or if even 7 cm are not a problem for you at the beginning.

My tip is to initially start with wider heels and not directly with stiletto heels. This will also make it easier at the beginning. Later, you can increase the height of the heels and you can reduce the width.
